Words in bottom right-hand corner; not a postcard number. These are the dates of the gaol - 1824 to 1869. There is another photo, of the City Gaol keys, which says closed 1867. This is likely because it took William Laslett two years to buy and set up the old gaol as Almshouses for 33 old people. The building was replaced in 1911 with new Almshouses, still there now (2024).
