Interesting one this is. It looks as if the advertisement for Wakefield is in a private garden. Where the 30mph sign is is the beginning of the then Worcester City boundary and the start of an alleway that runs from Ombersley Road to Cornmeadow Green. The houses in the background are in Whinfield Road ( where ny wife was born and lived). On the far right would be the garden for the New Inn pub

Harpers grocery store. Could be Spicers building on far right.

I can recall this but not remember it if that makes sense. I think it was on the corner of Ombersley Road and Northwick Road where the petrol station is now and Spicers had a yard opposite. The houses on the left are houses in the Northwick Road.

Have absolutely no idea where this was. My wife who was born and bred in the area has no idea either. The best long shot guess I can offer is that it was between Pinkett Street and Southall Avenue as there are now some allotments in the area behind what is there now. Perhaps examination of a 1940's ordnance survey map may offer an answer. Let me know if you can ascertain where it is.

Can't remember name of grocery store. About 1980 became a second hand 'junk shop'. Now a ladies hairdresser

End wall of Harpers store now a motor spares retailer. Junction of Ombersley Road and Northwick Road. Spicers builders yard was there up until 1970s before moving to Checketts Lane industrial estate.
