The design of this terrace probably explains why it was considered suitable for CPO & demolition:
1. A single entrance at the rear
2. A single small, North Facing window on the ground and first floor. The Top floor had no North Facing window
These must have been very cheaply built and very dark inside.

Probably the corner of Westbury Street and Lowesmoor Terrace, with Westbury Street to the right, out of the picture. Replaced with the "Moorings" housing. The house wall to the right is perhaps the end of the terrace alongside the moorings. Similar roadside railings are visible in other photographs of Lowesmoor Terrace.

The Cafe shown is 116 Tybridge Street run by a Mrs Collett. As well as the cafe building, she rented the adjoining house on the eastern side, as well as the lock up garage. The building were subjected to a CPO by the council in 1964, with the cafe lease bought out c1967 in preparation for the flat developments. By then the building was in a poor state of repair suffering from both dry rot and wood beetle.

The original Worcester power station. Located on the Hylton Road it was built in 1902 to supplement the water-generated (hydro electric) power produced at Powick Mills from 1894. Tybridge St. is the the right of the Power Station, albeit hidden by building to the right/front nearer the river.

Building shown is the side of No. 17 Hylton Road, and the right Building No. 1 of Court 1. These buildings all part of what was known as the Pinch. These were all demolished before WW2. The power station built on this site - and extended to and along Tybridge Street.

The buildings from the left are: a Cafe, wood built, A row of buildings known as 9 hidden from view at the rear of No. 11, ......then sequentially, No.s 11,13,15 and 17 Hylton Road. The road / path leading off Hylton Road leads to the right is to Court No.1 consisting of 1,2,3,4, 7 and possibly 9, the Pinch. Historically, the whole of this area was referred to as the Pinch.
The posters themselves are shown on the sides of No. 17 Hylton Rd. and No. 1 of Court 1. All the houses look lived in/ occupied, so suggests that this was taken pre 1937.
